Productions Lines

A production line prepares consumer goods for the delivery. Each production line has specific characteristics and requires individual settings for the labeling process.

manage.ID defines the following properties of each production line:

Name

The name of the production line. Each production line must have a unique name.

Hardware

Configuration of all assets used in the production process, such as printers, scanners, PLCs, or other electronic components.

Coding scenario

Represents the individual workflow, including the connected hardware and the required external data.

1 - Creating a Production Line

Before you begin

  • You are assigned to a user group that at least has the permission Configure hardware.
  • Optional: You have registered the hardware devices that you want to include in the production line.

About this task

To set up production, you create a production line and link hardware devices to it. For more information about the hardware devices you can connect with, for example, printers or scanners, see Hardware Devices.

Procedure

  1. On the side bar, select Hardware, and click Lines. The view Production Lines opens. You see the overview of the production lines that are already available in manage.ID. If no production lines were added, the overview is empty.
  2. Click the add icon +.
    The window Create New Production Line opens.
  3. Enter a name for the production line and click Confirm.

Results

You have created a new production line that you can see in the overview in Hardware > Lines.

2 - Preparing Production on a Production Line

Starting to print labels on a production line.

Before you begin

  • You are assigned to a user group that at least has the permission Manual loading production data and the permission to manage the selected production line.
  • You have imported or created master data.
  • You have imported the label layouts that you want to use.
  • You have created a production line.
  • In the production line, you have defined at least one coding scenario.

About this task

One way to start printing labels is that you assign a product or production order to a production line.

Note: You can also start production by creating a coding scenario and using information from a scanner to start printing labels.

Procedure

  1. In the side bar, click Production.
    The view Production Lines opens.
  2. In the list, locate the product or production order for which you want to print labels.
  3. Drag and drop the product or production order into an empty production line.
  4. Optional: If you are using a label layout with modifiable fields, enter content that should be printed on each field.

Results

You have started production on a production line.

  • Create a new production line.
  • Import master data.
  • Stop production on a production line.

3 - Stopping Production on a Production Line

Before you begin

  • You are assigned to a user group that at least has the permission Manual loading production data and the permission to manage the selected production line.
  • You have a production line with an active production.

About this task

If you want to assign a different product or production order to a production line, you must first stop the current production on that production line.

Procedure

  1. In the side bar, click Production.
    The view Production Lines opens.
  2. Click the settings icon … on the production line on which you want to stop the production.
  3. Click Stop.

Results

You have stopped production on a production line. The product or production order is removed from the production line in the overview.
